Yadira Silva
Author | Poet
Born 1965, in Caracas, Venezuela, Silva is known as a self-taught poet by those familiar with her work. She is the co-founder of Movimiento de Redes Penitenciarias, a movement focused on the social reintegration of ex-convicts in Venezuela.
Silva was an outspoken critic of Nicolas Maduro’s government and publicly condemned the abuse of power in the name of basic human rights. In 2018, political persecution forced Silva to leave her home in Caracas and make her way to Cali, Colombia.
She currently resides in Aguas Calientes, Mexico, where she continues to write—in between odd jobs—as passionately as ever.
